2009: Mailbox Monday – Monday #4

Today is my birthday, so it’s only fitting that I’ve received some really great stuff this week!

The first three books I received through PaperbackSwap trades.  I’ve been seeing stuff about Uglies everywhere, so I can’t wait to see what the buzz is all about! The bottom two are ARCs I gratefully received from Miriam at Hachette Press.  They look great! They’re not scheduled to be released until April and June, respectively, so it will be a little while before I’ll read them.

I hope you have a busy mailbox this week!

May you have the Happiest of Birthdays today, Jaime! 🙂

I have Uglies on my TBR shelf and look forward to reading it. I, also, have another one in the series, but I don’t remember which one.

Question about PaperbackSwap: How has the quality of the books been?

Most of the time, they’re really good. But if I’m requesting something with an old publication date, I don’t expect a lot out of it. I’ve only received a few that wouldn’t be sellable in a used book store. You can also put conditions on your request, like not wanting books from a smoking household if you’re sensitive to that.

Happy Birthday! A Spot of Bother looks interesting.

Happy birthday to YOU! Glad you got books! That always makes me happy. I’ll have to check into the swap as I have shelves of books… haven’t gotten to my book exchange lately which is 45 miles and hour drive away!

  5. Happy birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day. I read A Spot of Bother last year and I loved it. Mark Haddon is one of my favorites. I just love his humor.

I hope you like Uglies! The trilogy is one of my favorite sci-fi books, though, er, the writing could be a little better (just a little). If you DO like it, you might like Westerfeld’s Midnighters series, too. I recently read the first book and liked it a little more than Uglies, actually.

    Happy birthday!

  7. Happy Birthday! What a great selection of books. I’ll be interested to hear what you think about Uglies.

Happy Birthday..late.. wow. you got some good stuff!! The ARC’s look good. It is nice when a books cover is as good as what is inside. I will look forward to your reviews.

Happy, belated, birthday! I enjoy Nora’s mainstream novels and think I’ve read every one of them. Enjoy your books!
